Spawn eggs are not obtainable in Survival mode. In Creative mode, the player can press pick block on an existing mob to obtain their respective egg. Spawn eggs are also available in the Creative inventory. There are 30 eggs available in Console Edition, 42 in the computer edition, and 37 in Pocket Edition.
/give

Data values
Computer edition
The data value of a spawn egg has no effect; instead, the {EntityTag:{id:"<Savegame ID>"}}
data tag is being used. For example, /give <playername> spawn_egg 1 0 {EntityTag:{id:"minecraft:creeper"}}
would cause the spawn egg to create creepers. The minecraft:
prefix is required.
If, for the entity tag 'id', a SaveGame ID is used for a mob that is not listed in the table above, such as minecraft:villager_golem
(iron golem), the result would be a spawn egg with the name "Spawn Iron Golem", since the game can figure out the display name, but the egg will not spawn any mob, and will be the default color (white with grey spots).
Pocket Edition
When using the /give
command to give a spawn egg, it requires the numeric ID of an entity; for example: /give <playername> spawn_egg 1 33
would give an egg that spawns a creeper. For reference, see Pocket Edition data values#Entity_IDs for a complete list of entity IDs.
Eggs can be given not just for mobs listed in the table above, but for a few other entities. These eggs will be uncolored (white with grey spots), and will be called by unlocalized placeholder names, or simply, "Spawn".
- The snow golem (21), iron golem (20) and item (64) spawn eggs can be given, but will spawn nothing.
- The ender crystal spawn egg (71) produces an end crystal.
- Using any other entity ID will fail to give the egg.
歴史
Java Edition | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1.1 | 11w49a | Added spawn eggs for creeper, spider, skeleton, zombie, slime, ghast, zombie pigman, enderman, cave spider, silverfish, blaze, magma cube, pig, sheep, cow, chicken, squid, wolf, mooshroom and villager. At this point the spawn egg had a single texture file which was tinted different colors. | |||
12w01a | The egg and its markings had their textures separated, allowing them to have entirely different colors. This allowed their colors to better match the colors of the mobs themselves. The colors established in this version continue to the present day. | ||||
1.2.1 | 12w03a | Eggs can be placed into a dispenser. Activating the dispenser will spawn the mob instead of dispensing the egg as an item. Also in this version, spawn eggs became stackable, which allows dispensers to hold more than nine of them at one time. | |||
12w04a | Added ocelot spawn eggs with the addition of the ocelot itself. | ||||
Before 1.2, edited eggs for snow golems, ender dragons and giants (and other "unspawnable" mobs) produced mobs of their types. Now this is restricted to those eggs available in the Creative inventory. | |||||
1.3.1 | 12w18a | Villagers spawned from eggs were always farmers before 12w18a; in 12w18a and later their profession is randomized. | |||
1.4.2 | 12w32a | Zombie villager can be spawned using zombie spawn eggs. | |||
Sheep from spawn eggs can now spawn naturally-colored sheep (white, gray, brown, pink, etc.) | |||||
12w36a | Wither skeleton has a high chance to spawn from an skeleton egg if the player is in the Nether. | ||||
Skeleton on spider jockey also can be replaced with wither skeleton when using spider spawn egg in the Nether. | |||||
12w38a | Added witch and bat spawn eggs. | ||||

1.5 | January 7, 2013 | Dinnerbone tweeted the first image of a renamed mob appearing in a death message. | |||
13w02a | Mobs spawned from renamed eggs have the name of the egg and the names will appear in death messages. | ||||

14w25a | Added guardian spawn eggs. | ||||
14w27a | Added rabbit spawn eggs. | ||||

15w33a | Spawn eggs can no longer be addressed by numeric data id, like: give @p spawn_egg 1 50 . The spawnable item from a spawn egg is now addressed by a datatag: give @p spawn_egg 1 {EntityTag:{id:"Creeper"} } | ||||
1.10 | 16w20a | Added spawn eggs for polar bear, wither skeleton, stray, husk, elder guardian, cat, donkey, mule, skeleton horse and zombie horse. | |||

/give
